- Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. —3:00 p.m.
Just a reminder that we will still offer curbside service for those patrons who find it more convenient. Either call (815-522-6260) or email (kirklandlib@hotmail.com) to request the materials you would like. We will call you when they are available for pick up. When you let us know you are out front, give us a call and we will run out.

Kirkland, IL is a small community nestled in DeKalb County, IL. The Kirkland Public Library is looking for an individual who is passionate about reading and who is willing to take Kirkland Library into the future, to learn and be trained on library software, to handle and oversee the day to day operations of a small public library. Please email your resume or interest to kirklandlib@hotmail.com Kirkland Public Library Library Assistant Overview Kirkland Library is looking for a part time library assistant to provide excellent service assisting patrons in finding materials, assist with library card accounts, registration, and material-related tasks; greet patrons, and respond to general information inquires. Status: Part-Time (15-18 hours per week, must be available for some hours on Saturday) Classification: Hourly Schedule: Varies based on business needs Pay Range: Starting pay $15.00 per hour, DOQ Essential Duties Greets patrons and provides a welcoming introduction to the library Signs up patrons for new accounts and renews expired accounts Checks materials in and out Answers incoming phone calls and provides information about the library and services Recommends materials based on patron feedback and industry Attends library and community outreach events as needed Must be willing to be trained in Destiny and Sierra Software Maintains order and cleanliness of the library Other duties as assigned Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older, high school graduate or equivalent. One year customer service experience preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications Excellent oral and written communication skills Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Able to work independently, adapt to change and be solution oriented Able to project a professional image as a representative of the library Able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers Able to comprehend, follow, and enforce library policies and procedures Able to exercise good judgment and handle emergency situations in a calm, capable manner Able to walk, sit, and stand for prolonged periods of time Able to bend and squat Able to lift up to 30 pounds Able to see up close and far away Able to hear and respond to others both in person and on the telephone Able to operate a keyboard and a mouse |
